Denbigh Castle

Denbighshire Home

Location of the haunted place: Clywd, Wales

Origin of the haunting: 13/14th Century

Background: It is thought that a welsh fortress was sited here, prior to the invasion of Edward I. However, the ruins you can see today are from a castle built by Henry de Lacy, Earl of Lincoln, in the 13th Century. Her son's ghost tells the story.

Ghost story: My father built the Goblin Tower, which is situated just below the castle, to protect the castle's water supply. I was fifteen years old and loved watching the tower being built. One day I was up on the scaffolding watching the men work when I lost my footing and fell to my death.

If you look carefully you can see my unhappy face peering from one of the windows in the tower.
